Montlaur is a charming traditional wine producing village located in the heart of the Corbieres and Cathar country. It is an area with a beautiful combination of vineyards and mountains.

As someone who has lived in the area for over 12 years now I would say that if this is not heaven, it is very close to it.

Montlaur is a very old village and still contains a 17th century church and a magnificent town hall.
The village is typical of the area with a magnificent avenue of plane trees passing through it.

It's a wonderful place to experience French village life. The locals make all visitors welcome, and I have happily lived in this area of France now for many years.

A place to relax and enjoy village life and the magnificent scenery, completed with a glass of local French wine and the wonderful French food the country is so famous for.

Facilities

The village is fairly self-contained as it has a bar, bakery, small well stocked supermarket, butcher, pharmacy.

The house is in the centre of the village with the Post Office just one minutes walk from the house.

A Cash Machine and service station for fuel are located just a few minutes away in the village of Serviers-en-Val. There is also a river for swimming with the locals nearby.

This is a wonderful area for hiking, cycling, horse riding, exploring or just chilling out and relaxing. As a writer I use the house myself to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Weather
The village enjoys a Mediterranean climate and is the second sunniest area of France.

Location
The village is about halfway between the magnificent and historic towns of Carcassonne and Lagrasse in the South-West of France.

Montlaur is just 18 minutes from Carcasonne with regular flights by Ryanair.
Narbonne is just 25 minutes away, Toulouse with regular flights by all the main airlines 70 minutes away by car.
The village is also just a couple of hours away from the wonderful city of Barcelona again with various flight options.
Cultural Events
The village enjoys many cultural events throughout the year including village fetes, music concerts, walks and boules competitions.
There are also many other events held in neighboring villages.
